Why Me?

Education is one of those unique spaces where we must work to build the future we want to live in. Every child represents the world we will be living in soon. Never forget that education is the great equalizer, the key to a functioning society and a true democracy. We must give it all, as the stakes are high.

Things Isabel believes and brings to the board: 

  1. -To be a Voice of Diversity – with a unique perspective, bringing a new cultural, language, immigrant, bilingual, new citizen perspective.
    -Be sensitive to and want to ensure equal representation of gender, race, culture, abilities, and every aspect of our diverse community in our education and education materials.
    – Commitment to constantly Increase the board’s ability to move forward with policies that promote equity.
  2. -To Study and get Informed of all directions of district decisions through votes on the goals of the superintendent, the curriculum, and the budget (allocation of resources)
  3. -To be approachable resource for students, families, and the community at large.
  1. – To be Voice for Inclusivity – advocate and partner for child’s special needs with the school district and teachers. This is also done fighting stigmatization of behaviors, and understanding that there is always a way to learn, improve, and grow. 
  2. -To Value Aspirations/ higher education – opportunity and encouraged pathway for everyone! For example, I have seen how community colleges can bridge students to achieve their dreams after they leave K-12 education, as well as how students in other bigger Universities or other educational institutions help yought of every age achieve their goals. 
  3. – Commitment to Environmental Sustainability- healthy buildings make healthy people, and they encourage better education, goals achievable throughout funding, and planning.
  4. – Always a Great communicator who listen, understand, get informed and express clearly.
  5. – A Hard worker trustee, always keeping in mind the community served, the whole district, and every child and every school we represent.
